Yes, on March 16, 2013 I married the love of my life, the man I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. I feel like the luckiest woman on the planet and simply can’t stop smiling.
I waited a long time for this man people, and in the meantime I happily lived the life of a single mom for almost 12 years. I really have been happy though. I love being mommy to my two girls and never really fretted much about not having a man in my life. I knew he’d come along when he was supposed to and that’s exactly what happened. Thank you God.
I have to say that planning a wedding the second time around was easy. We kept it small and meaningful, inviting only about 50 people as our restaurant venue had that limit. Yes, there were some people I would have liked to have been able to include, but everyone seemed to understand our constraints.
It was perfect! Magical! Amazing! Even with the mid-March blizzard that blew in that day, just for us. I hear it’s good luck though, at least that’s what I was told that day. I thought that the snow fall was beautiful, even though I was freeeeeeeezzzzing!!
The only downside to the entire day was that my stomach muscles were killing me from holding in my tummy in my fitted lace dress. What was I thinking when I decided against Spanx? Never say no to Spanx! NEVER!
Here’s a bit of the fun! Enjoy and tell me about your wedding.
Getting the updo.
My babies….. ( I have to admit that neither of my girls was thrilled with their make-up and proceeded to “fix it.”) We learned a lesson and the lesson was that it’s often good to do your own make-up for special occasions, as you’re really the only one who knows what you like. Now some people are smarter than we were and make “test” appointments before the big day. We just didn’t have time with Mariah being in college and all. Oh well, she fixed it and all was well.
See? Purdy girls with normal make-up hanging out with Uncle Greg, my brother and also my wedding photographer extraordinaire.
Seriously, could I look any happier? I already had my eye on the prize at this point. I felt like skipping down the aisle to him. 🙂
Our official first kiss as man and wife!!!!! I love this picture….mostly because it’s our first kiss, but also because I’m wearing fabulous shoes. Am I lying ladies?
Me and my love….sigh….
Whatcha thinkin about Hayleybell?
Can you tell I LOVE purple? Mariah is showing you her purple potted plant which holds her place card. Even our menus with light purple, but I also had splashes of cream and pale yellow in the flowers at the church and the centerpieces. It was lovely.
I won’t add in every other picture from our wonderful reception dinner at the Huntley Tavern in Summit, but I will tell you that they did a fabulous job with everything and we couldn’t have been happier. I’m still craving some of that food and am determined to copy some of the recipes. I’ll let you know how that goes.
So the festivities were over and the next day we had a 50th wedding anniversary brunch for my parents while they were in town and we were all together. It was the perfect end to a perfect weekend.
After the brunch and before my parents had to leave for the airport, we relaxed and this happened…
