I don’t bake often and there’s a reason for this. I have no self control when goodies are in the house. Yep….I said it. I’m not alone though. Right now it seems like everyone in my house is trying to shape up. This is great! I think it’s always a good idea to remain conscious of one’s eating and exercise habits and continually trying to improve. Having constant sweets around the house would sabotage those efforts and the struggle is hard enough.
What’s weird is that certain members of the family will eat the desserts that I make or bring into the house and then get mad at themselves and then inevitably blame me. Don’t worry though. I do not accept this blame and always point out that the only person who is in control of what goes into your mouth, is yourself. Life is full of temptation. It’s best to learn to deal with it by practicing moderation. I definitely don’t think that deprivation is a good idea for anyone really unless there’s a medical reason for it. Deprivation for the reason of losing weight just doesn’t seem normal to me. It’s self defeating. We all want what we can’t have. Your thoughts?
Aaaaanywhoooo…..when I am craving a sweet treat, I want to eat exactly what I’m craving. I won’t waste the calories on something that doesn’t really rock my world. That’s just the way I am. I know…I’m a bit weird that way. I’m actually like this about everything, not just sweets. I just can’t settle unless starving and there’s literally nothing else to eat. If it comes down to a matter of not eating and then feeling terrible with the shakes, etc….or eating something I’m not in the mood for, I’ll eat to feel better and then satisfy the craving later, but that’s the only time that I’ll do that and I need to be feeling pretty bad to eat something that I just don’t want.
There you go. You’re now fully in tune to the eating habits of Teresa. Now you can move on with your lives with smiles on your faces, because all is right with the world. Glad that I could help.
Now pour yourself a nice cold glass of milk and enjoy these cookies….or don’t, if they’re not what your craving right now. I know they will be someday. 🙂
