A couple of years ago, while still dating, my husband and I started our tradition of going on a weeknight date. I have to say that this has been, without a doubt, one of my best ideas….or one of his best ideas. No, pretty sure it was mine…well…not 100% sure it was mine. Either way, it’s been wonderful.
Our date nights during the week aren’t late nights out or even expensive, most of the time. Sure, we splurge here and there, but it’s not about making a big deal out of it and putting on our best clothes, etc… It’s about breaking up the hectic week and just concentrating on our relationship. I love looking into my husband’s handsome face and just enjoying him. We’re newlyweds, after all, and I still feel a bit swoony when just calling him my “husband.” I am one lucky girl!
Frank and I got married this past March. Our two oldest children were already away in college, but of course came home to participate in the wedding. Our two youngest live with us, but soon Hayley will be leaving for college as well. While we’ll still have one at home with us, he’s out doing his own thing…school, work, a social life, etc….. So by this Fall, Frank and I will practically have the house to ourselves, but we still plan on keeping with our weeknight date nights. Little does he know that I’ll be adding in some at home date nights too. What’s wrong with a little candlelight dinner and movie night at home? I say NOTHING!
So last night we went to The Huntley Tavern for dinner. It was a memorable night of food, as always, and was made especially sweet since we reminisced about our wedding dinner which we’d had in the upstairs portion of the restaurant just a few short months ago. The memory made us smile more than once.
