I finally tried it! This is one of those recipes/techniques that I’ve seen for quite some time now on may different blogs, but just hadn’t taken the time to actually try. Well, let me just say that I should have done this sooner. While I’ve seen this on many different sites, the temperature and cooking time for my bacon is from The Kitchn.
We all love bacon, right? We all hate the mess of cooking it though. I so hate the messy oil splatters all over my stove top and at times it has actually prevented me from making bacon. I know….I know….cooking is messy. There’s always clean up involved. This is true, but I’m usually making bacon to go with breakfast and the morning schedule just doesn’t allow time for wiping down the whole cooking area and I refuse to come home to that mess.
Baking my bacon in the oven not only prevents the timely and dreaded clean up, but it also produces the crispiest bacon. Here’s another kicker….the baked bacon is not only crispy, it also remains flat instead of curling up into those extra greasy, curly pieces of bacon from the frying pan.
I’m converted now. My relationship with bacon has changed. All that is left is the love without the resentment. I’d say that this is a much healthier relationship. Wouldn’t you?
Put the bacon in a 450 degree preheated oven for roughly 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the thickness of your bacon. Make sure that the bacon is in a single row without any overlap or the slices will stick to each other.
Now throw away the foil and enjoy that bacon!
