My name is Teresa and I live in a beautiful suburb in the state of New Jersey. Beautiful you ask? Yes, it is indeed a very beautiful place to live and mostly not like what you’ve seen on certain television shows and what I fear many have come to believe New Jersey is like. My town in particular is a quick train ride to New York City, a hop, skip and a jump to many beach towns like Cape May on the Jersey shoreline, a quick-ish drive to other wonderful places in both Pennsylvania and Connecticut and then usually just a few short hours to Cape Cod and even Boston. I feel as if I have access to everything from here and it’s time to explore.
Aside from living in the burbs, I’m also a mother of two grown daughters, the lights of my life. While life continually changes, which has been hard at times even when the changes are positive, like sending my firstborn baby, Mariah, to college in the Fall of 2012 and then sending my little baby, Hayley, to college in 2013, (ugh), those same changes also include wonderful, yet bittersweet change, like watching my two babies become the amazing women I always hoped they would be. (I admit that I still long to play with the little girls though.) Another change is that I recently married the love of my life after being a single mom for 13 years. Now I have two wonderful grown stepsons as well. I’m thoroughly enjoying getting to know these two amazing young men. Each of them already has a special place in my heart. Yes, after being divorced for so many years, I have the true love story and he came with some pretty great baggage. At times I feel as if I need to pinch myself and wake up. I’m still trying to figure out how I got so lucky.
I’ll be posting pictures and stories of my adventures throughout northeast suburbia and hopefully beyond, along with our days in NYC. You’ll also see posts of our family times and recipes I try, even if they fail miserably or comically. I can’t guarantee that I’ll be as eloquent as your favorite author or that my grammar will always be perfect. Honestly, I’m not a big fan of perfection and I’m not sure that it’s necessary here or ever really. However, I am a fan of Grammar Girl, and will do my best. Warning, my posts will often times be sassy, sarcastic, immature and very goofy. I can’t help it. I’ve never fully grown up and my family loves me this way, or at least they’ve come to accept it. I’ll always love to hear your feedback and will often be looking for suggestions from you. We’re in this together!
Two Christmases ago, my big brother, Greg, surprised me with a fancy dancy camera and my photography skills are a work in progress, and therefore may also be comical at times. Try to laugh it off….that’s what I do.
I hope you enjoy yourself when you stop by. I’ll be so thrilled if you share your thoughts and experiences with me.
Teresa, your Sassy Suburbanite
